If you’re thinking about booking a Disney vacation and squeezing in some family photos while you’re there – first of all, yes. Do it. Second of all, let me help you figure out where to do it, because not all Disney resorts are created equal when it comes to those frame‑on‑the-wall kinds of photos. So here are my top five Disney resorts to consider for your future photography session with me! (Don’t worry if you prefer another resort – I’m flexible!)
1. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
You don’t have to be staying here (or be a princess) to get a little of that classic fairytale energy. The Grand Floridian is elegant without being fussy, and the outdoor areas are clean, timeless, and totally dreamy. There’s something about palm trees, white railings, and soft green lawns that just makes families look good. If you’re into soft, sunny photos that feel like they belong in a storybook, this one’s for you.
Bonus: it’s super close to Magic Kingdom, so if your little ones are still riding that post-Cinderella glow, we can catch it before nap time hits.
2. Polynesian Village Resort
Pure tropical vibes – think palm trees, sandy beaches, overwater bungalows in the background, and that warm golden light just before sunset. You’ll feel like you’re on vacation in Hawaii, but with Dole Whip nearby.
This is the place for barefoot kids, flowy dresses, and laughing together like you’re in a travel ad. Families who want relaxed, colorful, and beachy—this is your spot. Also, no one has ever frowned while standing next to a tiki torch. Just saying.
3. Disney’s BoardWalk Resort
BoardWalk is basically Disney’s version of a coastal town from the 1920s, and it’s so good for family photos that don’t feel like they’re trying too hard. There’s a wraparound lake, a charming old-school boardwalk, and the kind of light that makes everyone look just a little bit extra polished.
It’s fun, a little vintage, and never too crowded if you time it right. You can dress up or keep it casual – it all works here.
4. Riviera Resort
Riviera is for families who love clean lines, modern style, and that subtle kind of elegance that doesn’t scream “we’re doing family photos!” but definitely whispers it. It has gorgeous balconies, stone walkways, and beautiful gardens that somehow feel straight out of Europe.
There’s a calm here that works great with shy kids, energetic toddlers, and everything in between. We can find tucked-away corners that feel peaceful and private – so if your little one needs a snack break (or you do), no judgment. We could even take a scenic Skyliner ride!
5. Art of Animation Resort
Let’s talk color. If your kids love Disney characters and giant sculptures of them, this is the spot. It’s bold, bright, and playful in a way that makes even the crankiest toddler smile (and maybe forget they skipped their nap).
This place is basically a living cartoon, and it’s awesome for families who want fun, casual photos that scream “we went to Disney!” – without needing mouse ears in every shot.
The Cars section? Adorable. Finding Nemo courtyard? A hit. It’s not subtle, but if your crew is all about fun and whimsy, this one’s unbeatable.
Honorable Mention: Wilderness Lodge
I can’t not mention Wilderness Lodge. It’s rustic and woodsy and gives major “family retreat in the mountains” vibes. The exteriors are gorgeous, with pine trees, a little waterfall stream, and even a geyser that shoots into the sky.
It’s perfect for cozy fall sessions or families who want something that feels less theme park, more outdoorsy magic. Just bring bug spray if you’re going during mosquito season – consider that my very professional tip.
