A few years ago, we began reading the Harry Potter books aloud to my son every night who was then 9 years old. I grew up with the Harry Potter books – I was at the midnight releases for many of them, and I devoured the 7th book in a single day, staying up all night to finally find out how it ended – so I was obviously excited to share this series with one of my own kids at long last.
He was an avid reader himself, so it took no time for him to get into the books just as I had decades earlier. And I chose the most perfect time to start reading the books to him, because we finished the entire series the week before his 11th birthday – a very important birthday in the Wizarding World!
So what better way to celebrate this milestone than a trip to Universal Studios Orlando for his own Wizarding World photoshoot! (Don’t worry, we spent most of the day doing rides – I didn’t force the poor kid to do nothing but take photos!)
In case you couldn’t tell, Alfie is most definitely a Ravenclaw. I could see him plausibly being a Hufflepuff too (like me!), but he prefers Ravenclaw, and I certainly can’t argue with that. He’s a bookworm, intelligent, witty, and he is always quick to remind me when it’s time to go back to the library to exchange our books!
